amplifer isn't proving power, why?
so the other day my subwoofers stopped working and after trying to figure out whats wrong, i took a look at my amplifier and this red light on the side of it all the sudden is turned on, like a security future!
does this mean i need a new amplifier or?

Just for my own curiousity: What brand amp is it and what are the specifications? Mono? 2-Channel? How many watts and what type of subs are they?
Hope you were able to fix your problem either way.

its a power acoustik amp, 520 watts not that big, and the subs are 2-12 inch jbls in a regular wood box. i was reading the owners manual on the amp and it gave some possibilities to get my amp out of red protect mode i; temp shutdown, turn radio down, speaker wires short circuit, or separate speakers wires and insulate.
i just spend the last 2 hours tearing my car apart, checked all the fuses and they good, checked the wires from the cd player to the amp and one wire had a lil split area so I used electrical tape to wrap it, and checked my subs and everything seems to be connected. still in protect mood. haven't checked my speakers yet.

if you have a volt meter you meter the ohms on each of the speakers while they are disconnected from the amp. IF inside speakers, should read about 4 ohm if its subwoofers, those jbls should read either 2 or 4 ohms. let me know and i can tell you how to wire them up for that amp.

I have an 2000 watt PA amp. The light IS (as stated before) the protect mode, you can go into the manual and the troubleshooting guide will give you other things to check.. I know for me, the only time it flashed was because of my ground wire though.
