Question Drag Launching

I recently got an SR20DET put in (S14) and went to the track last month. I ran 16's all day and my best time was a 15.2. This is horrible! I get really bad launches when I launch at 3K. I spin in place through first gear and inch in second gear and then slowly move in third gear. When I launch at 2K, I am able to move in first gear but have to wait for boost to build up. I'm running on some cheap Futura 775 series tires (stock 16" wheels) so I know I've got some issues there but is there a secret to launching? How do you all launch?

omg thats horrible, try to find the sweet spot where they spin a little bit but not a lot, then dont slam the pedal through the floor board, ease the gas just enough to where your not spinning out but enough to accelerate well...

what was your 60ft?

i have sr20 and had junkyard 195/60/15 tires on the rear and got a 2.160ft out of them, you should be somewhere around there, maybe better cuz your tires are prolly better than what mine were..

thats strange man, I'd say you need to launch at around 2 k, and make sure your tires can handle a decent burnout. I did a 15.8 in my stock 97 "AUTOMATIC" so yea...

Can't remember what my 60 foot was. I only remember that I got a .200 reaction time, 15.2 quarter mile time, and a trap speed of about 95 MPH. I'm thinking of going LSD but am unsure if that will help. Currently debating between some wider rear tires (all season) or LSD...

thats horrible, you need to just launch low and see what happens and practace shifting because a ka w/ intake and exhaust can run low 15's
