a few smal question on swapping the RB20 into 89 coupe

hey i was just wondering if anyone has any ideas of what to do with the driveshaft or what you did to your RB20 swapped 240 for it to work?

also would anyone happen to have any quality wiring diagrams for the swap? i think all i need is the interior ignition signal ect since i am using an uncut harness. does anyone have any insight?

thanks!

Well........ you should be able to use the stock manual driveshaft.

Wiring is a *****. You can use the stock cluster but it has to be modified to work with a 6 cylinder car. Or you can get the R32 cluster and wire it to the motor and ECU. There are 4 wires I believe that need to be wired from the main harness to the upper motor harness. There are a few write ups out there man.

If you use the stock KA cluster, pull your KA electronic speed sensor out and put it in place of the mechanical RB speed sensor. Basically, it took me 2 days of solid work to wire my friends RB. Get the ECU pinout for the KA and the the RB, wiring diagrams for both clusters, and that should be about it.

I am pretty sure the RB trans is the same as a KA just a different bell housing. I could be wrong. Not sure.

the gear box im not sure... as for the Sr minus the 5th gear.. the boxes are the same.. but

all you need for the swap is the Mckinney mounts and that's it.

you can make your own mounts also... and there are other companies.

okay, i have the front crossmemeber so as far as i know i will just have to swap that out and it should work, right?

also this is probably a rather retarded question, for the clutch i should just use a braided line right?

and from what i know since im using the full engine harness, still havent found a KA pinout yet but im guessing at the most just the ignition, should be different, i know wiring a BEE-R into a R32 the pinout was the same for a RB25det as the SR20det, so i will imagine the KA shouldnt befar off.
i hope it goes smoothly lol.

you still have to perform the wire up as if it was a standard Rb20 in a 240 swap and then proceed with the e manage.

one step at a time... after you get the car tuned... then add the bee-r... adding to much into your equation will ruin things and leave you stuck.
