hmm... those are the ones i bought -- the ones pictured in the very first post of this thread. my white LED's give off a very blue hue. oh and just to rule out other possible issues, it's not the dimmer switch. it's set as bright as it can go.

but like i said, it's no big deal. gauges can still be read. thanks guys.

 

yeaup you need the 360 deg light.. it shines in all directions not just straight ahead.

Haha yeah that is confusing. Biggamehit is right, afcfalconhawk is wrong. You need the 360 degree one.

how the hell did you guys get the bezel back on without breaking it? i've been trying every now and again for the last month or so to put it back in place, but never really cared all that much so i gave up each time. yesterday i worked like a madman to try and get it on, but i couldn't figure out how to put it back without it feeling like it was about to snap.

please, oh wise ones, share with me the magic technique!

 

Did you drop the steering column? It helps a lot. You just gotta wiggle it in there after that.

 

yeah, dropped the column, removed the steering wheel, even tried removing the plastic shroud around the column (thought that'd give me an extra few centimeters...) haha.

okay, well i'll try and finesse it in, otherwise if it breaks, it breaks
no better than the situation i'm in now.

 

Did you take the bolts out to drop the column or just use the lever to lower it? If you take the bolts out, it should drop down pretty far, leaving you more than enough room. Then it should just pop right in, just make sure all the plugs for the buttons and such aren't in the way.

Hey Guys, I didn't see a write up for an S14 install, but it's really the same stuff just different location of bolts and what not but I decided to go ahead and do one anyway

Start with removing these two screws

In order to get the plastic piece in front of the guage cluster, the top plastic cover of the steering column has to be removed.So to do that, remove the following screws

And just pop the top part off

Pull the plastic piece that surrounds the guage cluster and disconnect the two plugs in the back


I dropped the steering column in my car to access the guage cluster and have a lot more room to work with. First I removed this metal plate to access the steering column bolts.

Then I removed these bolts and dropped the steering column

Take these 3 screws out

Unplug these wires

I replaced the top three (Orange) and bottom right( Blue)

Switch them out

***NOTE*** Make sure you test it out first before putting it all back together...one of my bulbs didn't work but good thing I ordered 5. To test it, plug the wire that went into the dimmer, and the lights should come on.
I'll post a pic up tomorrow of how they look like....to be honest, I thought they were going to be brighter, but I realized if they were brighter it would hurt the hell out of my eyes lol.

yea i didnt drop my colum lol thats not needed... i just moved the pivot all the way down.. i mean you can really do it with the wheel on also.. but at that point and time i was also working on cleaning something up so thats why i just went ahead and took the wheel off.

 

I had to drop the column but i left the steering wheel on.

 

Late reply, but finally got it back on, in one piece. After dropping the column it pretty much slid right in. Thanks guys.
