Turbo Adventure ( my turbo and others)

Last week i found a H1C on eBay that i was looking for when i built my turbo kit last year. To my luck not only did i find it, but the shop was located in Rockville MD. I talked with the owner of the company and he allowed me to come check it out before buying. The turbo was as described, " zero shaft play no leaks etc". He also allowed me to browse through his shop freely and was very excited to show me his latest turbos that had Zero miles on them etc.

This shop houses EVERY holset ever made (H1C,H1E,H2C,H2D,H2E,HX30,HX35,HX40,HX50,HX55,HX60 ,WHX80,HX82...........
SOURCE) and many OEM Garrett chargers. some are rebuilds/parts only. some are in fair to new shape. many of the BIG ones power Detroit trucks, Earth Movers, Marine equipment etc.

they are great project turbos for DIY guys/gals and cost way less then the leading brands and are the same quality and better in some aspects. many of them that you see in the pictures that can actually fit in our cars without major modification are mainly T2,T3 and T4 flanged with either 4/5 bolt and v-band turbine outlets. for the most part you can use standard feed and return oil flanges. some are threaded for use with banjo bolts. It takes minor modification ( drilling, tapping, converters etc) to make them work

below are pictures of the shop and my turbo

all being shipped today

could place 1 1/2 Razors inside of it

T2 flanged ( bigger then z31 T3)

superchargers

MY turbo

TURBOCHARGER MANUFACTURER: HOLSET #765
TURBOCHARGER PART # 3522900
TURBOCHARGER MODEL # H1C
OIL COOLED
WEIGHT: 19
EXHAUST WHEEL DIAMETER - 60mm.
COMPRESSOR WHEEL DIAMETER - 45mm.

I did the math for the trim and came up with 56 but that was just with the numbers given, i really want to measure the size of the inducer and exducer and get the proper number for both sides.

spotless, had you basic sludge from use, but no broken parts or blown seals ( most of the oil spots came from my fingers)

nice find man. unfortunately i think you are going to have to do alot of work to put the h1c on your manifold without getting major clearance issues.
oh, i'm looking for a large t2 flanged turbo, did you see anything that might appeal to me? how about some contact info with this shop

already got another manifold ( log) bro and if it was not for my master cly would have dropped right in. its the angle of my manifold that holds me up.

that turbo is no bigger than a GT35R bro almost same size ( pictures make it look bigger) H1C ( different versions) are smaller in size

just picture a GT35r with the compressor and turbine housings reversed.

the one i held in my hand was T2 bigger than T3

to understand more how holsets work check out this link.

holset info

H1C's come from dodge ram turbo-diesel trucks primarily they are standard chargers just designed to flow better at low rpms. which is the best of both worlds for our cars. they allow the motor to breath unrestricted but at the same time spools at about the same time as a small T3 turbo.

i cant give you an exact number until i dyno of course but just so you can get an idea:

8psi with a GT35R is totally different then 8psi with an T25. two different worlds. this turbo on the truck has an max level at about 25 psi i believe and thats like an 5-6 liter motors with higher cfms at times.. so just guess how much it can take from a 2.4 liter.
