Thumbs up

Went to your web site and it answer all my questions
1) You can get 6 ½ Speakers in the front
2) How to do it
3) What speaker will fit and still allow the window to crank down

Thanks for your help will save me from making some expensive mistakes.
Oh! One “ballsy” handle you have there!
Have a great time in your 240

Very well done, definately looks clean. You did a great job on those custom mounts, how long did they take to make?

Took me a couple days since I wanted to plan everything out.

But now that I wrote this how-to, anyone wanting to do it should
be able to do it in one afternoon, assuming they got all the
supplies they need (spade connectors, screws, plexiglass,
rotozip cutter, etc.).

thanks for the thread now i don't have to put in those stupid 4x6's and i can go for the comps. say how big is that cut out , do you think there is enuff room for a 3 way comp set a 7" midbass, 3" midrange and 3/4" tweeter??

not even close. The 6.5" must be a smaller speaker, and only a few inches deep, those would be way too deep. And you'd mount the tweeter higher up on the door.

nah for better sq you want the same distance from ur ears to each speaker that's why ur suppose to mount the tweeter on the plate with the mid, but i might still buy a 3way comp set and put the midbass in the doors and build some kickpanels for the midrange and tweeter.

I totally disagree with you, because in the celicas, the system 10 wasn't by the speaker, and in my buddies 02 civic the speakers were in the door and the tweeters were like on the inside of the side read view mirrors. Same w/ my buddies VW. Not to mention everyone that has upgrade their 4X6's and done a write-up has put them higher up the door, or on the inside of the side mirrors.

Try the component, do a write up w/ pics and let us know how it goes. It'd be awesome if it did work.

yes but do you actually think car companies care about the best sq, they wouldn't waste that much time that it takes to measure out the distance from the drivers ear to the speakers in the each door and the rear deck. imho it's all about show, look our company has a 6 speaker stereo, tweeters, mids and coaxials in the rear( if u could call them that) and the next car company doesn't, it's all about the $$$$. to have the best sq, the sound from each speaker in the car has to reach the ear at the same exact time, that's why you only find time alignment in the top headunits of the top brands (alpine and eclipse) and that they are brands that make external time alignment devices if your h/u doesn't have it built in. everything else in sq is just opinion; power, materials of tweeters and midrange, midbasss, some people don't see why they need midbass, until they hear a car with a properly setup one. it helps blend the sub bass in with the front speakers better and it's worth the time and $$$ if that's your thing.

Front and rears on S14 are 6.75" round. The rears are standard "hole in metal" install, but the fronts have this gigantic piece of molded plastic that the speaker mounts to. If you have the skills I'd dump that hunk of plastic and make a new baffle for whatever speaker you choose.
