Antenna Options

I didn't feel like hijacking someone else's antenna thread. Anyways.

I'm looking at pulling the stock power mast out here in the near future and I want to replace it with a functional small fixed antenna. Like a Honda S2K or the like. Any suggestions?

I don't know if it would fit, and haven't heard of anyone that has done it. Just be like me and snap the stock antenna off, lol, oops! then you don't have to worry about an antenna sticking out, heh.

It's sounding like an option

I'd still rather have something clean looking though. Given enough money, I can make something like that work. I'm actually starting to look at volkswagon and see what I can put together there. The passat or golf have the type of fixed mast/base combo I'm looking for. Next question is what thread type is the antenna base?

Shave it and put a stick on one in the front or rear window. That would make it nice and clean looking.

thats what i'm thinking about doing to my car when I get it repainted this summer, just take it out, bondo over it and have it look clean, same with the rear wiper.

Hmm...VW jetta stubby antena will run me 80 bucks from the dealership. Not too bad for the whole unit. I was talking to my mechanic about this idea and he's all for it. all I need to do is yank the old one out and drop the new antenna in. It should plug right in since Nissan doesn't use a proprietary antenna connection. When I get ready to do the swap, I'll photograph it and do a write up on it.

Definately do a write-up and put some pics, i'll even host it for you online if you want. Let me know how it all goes.

You can use the factory rear windsheild antenna. All you gotta
do is invert your antenna adapter. Here's a good how-to on
doing just that:
