Anyone have 6-1/2" components in an s13?

I'm getting these installed Saturday.
http://www.eclipse-web.com/component/sc8264.html

I talked to the place where i normally get my stereo stuff done and they said they were not sure if they would fit. And if they did there would have to be some serious installation involved. I was told in another thread that they would fit so i'm not to worried about it. But the reason I ask is, they wanna charge me anywhere from $150 to $200 to install. Said it would take about 4 hours to do. Does that seem like a good price? I would do it myself but i have a serious lack of tools and i basically just don't know how to do lol. Also where do you have the tweeter mounted? I want mine on the upper door sil where most go but they said they didn't know if there would be enough depth. It probably would have helped alot if I took my car in but I live about 45 minutes away. Any info will help, thanks.

Yes they fit, just make custom brackets. Take the old ones, trace the shape of those onto some 1/2 or 3/8" MDF, cut it out, then cut out a 6 1/2" hole for the speaker, drill the mounting holes, and you're good to go. I did it, now I just need speakers lol. As for the tweeter...it has a mounting depth of like what 2"? That will fit just play with it a bit.

Well I went with JL audio instead. A little cheaper, and I thought they sounded a little better. The audio store I go to actually is stopping most of their sales on eclipse woofers. Said they were going downhill, making their stuff more cost effficient. Sucks to here cause I was always a big Eclipse guy.

Yeah I got CDT Audio 6 1/2"s in my doors. Makes alot of differance in sound compaired to 4X6"s. I built my brakets out of 1/8" ABS plastic, and i had to use a 1/2 spacer so the magnet would not hit the window when it was rolled down. Also because my speaker was so thick i had to cut the orignal grill out of the door and trim it quite a bit. It can defintley be quite a job, but overall it was a great investment. Oh and yeah 150-200 sounds about right, it is some massive custom work.

I'd say $100 MAYBE $150 but no way I'd pay $200 to have them put in. Check around before you decide to go with that place. Harley

It only ended up costing about $100 since I went with the JL's. They have a lot smaller magnet then the Eclipse.

You could've gone to bestbuy or circuit city and got 1/2" or 1" spacers. We sell em for about 12 bucks. I'm going with the Infinity 4x6 plates. with the 4" speaker built in with a tweater to the side.

Why are you gonna go with 4x6 plates? I'm gonna do the 6 1/2 Polk MOMO components. We get a very nice accomodation on them at circuit city.

actually I will be going with the MOMO 5 1/4 component system, not enough mounting depth for the 6 1/2. oh well, should still get good sound from the 5 1/4.
