Disabling the stock alarm?
Since nobody seems to be responding to this in thread I found in the general discussion forum, I thought I should go ahead and ask my question in the correct forum.
My roommate has a 1995 240SX SE with a schizophrenic alarm. The sensors may be going bad, because the alarm goes off all the time even if nobody touches the car. As a temporary fix, we have disconnected the horn, but he still can't start the car if it is spazing out at the time. Is there any way to completely disable the alarm? Or even just remove the part that disables the ignition? edit: I guess another good question to ask is: Any idea what it would take to find out exactly what is wrong and just fix the alarm? (I think alarms in general are useless, but I guess one that only goes off when it needs to is better than one that always goes off.) Thanks, Matt |
Well to disable it, you can just pull the fuse which I believe is in the fuse box in the right side of the engine bay. As for fixing it, I'm guessing there might be a short in the system.

Thanks, I'll try pulling that fuse and see if it will disable the alarm, but not disable the car.
