Help With S14 Stereo Wiring!!

ok, I bought the metra harnesss kit and wired everything and snapped those two harnesses to my new clarion cd receiver......... nothing happened. No power.... how come??

I put the stock cd back on, nothing happened either..... unless if the radio antenna cable is plug then there is power.

Now the oem antenna plug is 2 pins where the aftermarket receiver is only 1 pin.

I am planning to buy the nissan radio antenna adapter from circuit city $12.99. I wonder if that will solve the problem? and will actually works?

Any input will be greatly appreciated :)

Oh, this is for 1995 240sx. By the way I need radio trim if anybody have one for sale, I messed them up :P

You need to bypass the stock amps.

I'm actually installing a new head unit and new speakers in my car this weekend, this is a guide that was referred to me by Raine:

hey. actually, i have a question for you. I haven't put my head unit in yet (I probably will this weekend) but I have all the harnesses and stuff I need and I'm looking at them.

I have one that goes into the back of my head unit, and then another harness that connects to the factory nissan connectors. Some of tire wires line some don't. If you could help me ou with which wire goes where that woudl be awesome...

The following wires are ones I am not sure of: blue/white, black/white, blue, red, yellow, black, orange.

Also what do I have to do to *not* break the radio trim, it seems everyone else breaks theirs, haha.

no power? same thing happeend to me, i found out i had a bad ground ... so 'no power' means your stereo doesn't turn on, right?

i grounded my wiring to the body near the shifter. maybe you have a bad ground. all i can say is pick up a cheap multimeter and hope you know how to use/read it :) if not, i'm sure you could find SOMEONE.

i think i bought a metra kit and had no problems

Almost everyone having problems wiring an aftermarket head unit into an S14 has ended up making a seperate ground wire in order for the head unit to work. I know I did.

thanks, actually I just figured that all out this morning. got the new HU working and I didn't need to bypass the factory amps at all. Hurray! :)

All my new speakers are in too.

only one problem.... The frikkin screws that hold the factory radio to the metal that supports it won't budge and I have no clue how to get them out so I can attach the new HU to it :(

djradam 02-05-2005 10:47 PM

torque, force them out :)

#1 Phillips has a large enough grip to get that screw out :thumb:

no go. I even took apart the stock head unit, and now I just have the chasis for the head unit, I can see both sides of the damn screw. I've covered it with some crazy penetrating oil. No go. :( I guess imma hafta find a drill and drill the screws out.... *sigh*
