Installing Sub in Spare tire wheel well...

Has anyone done this with their 240?

I have a 91 and was planning on doing this.

I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations on which would be the best sub to use for this and how to go about making it.

What size sub would be best also.
1 - 10"
2 - 10"
1 - 12"
2 - 12"
1 - 15"

I was planning on using Infinity Kappa Perfect subs. Just haven't decided on Size and Quantity.

Thanks!

I would go with a 12" sub by JL Audio. JL already has a cutout for a sub in the trunk for a hatch. Buy that and their sub and you'll be straight.

I think that is the unit equipped in the RSX. Mint unit.

You are planning to still have a spare in there right?

i doubt it. i dunno why anyone would do this, the acoustics are going to make it hard to get a decent sound, so if u dont like ****ty sounding bass i'd rethink the idea....oh thats right, most people dont give a **** about good sounding bass, they just care about how hard it hits and never think about actually getting a good sound.

stick with JL, dont get Infinity Kappa Perfect ****

you should consider this

one is more expensive for a reason, go with quality and i promise you wont regret it.

its not just about the name JL....JL has consistently built a great quality sub for years and years and years.....

yeah i dont wanna ramble

JL has also been blowing voice coils in thier subs for years too. Want a good sub and doesnt weight 100 pounds for a 12? get MB Quart or Boston Acoustic 12" sub, they dont weigh much and they put out beautiful sounding bass...more $$$ but defently worth it, you get what you pay for in audio

I have a coupe so you can't get good bass from it cause the trunk it self is another room from where you are. I put a 12" on the trunk but the bad thing is that you have to take out your spert tire. Bad..... custom buil box inside it. Using 1 1000watt 12" with 1 800watt amp and 1 200watt amp, crossove and 1 30 band EQ.

I have had both MB and Boston Acoustic experience. Clean sound. THey blow all the time. Boston is suppose to be unblowable. well sorry i blew it in 2 mins. JL I have never blown, and Kicker is very good also. JL Rulez in my Book.

Hi,

I have 2 alpine 10" subs, in a box mounted in a box in the back of my hatch, the bass pumps and is of high quality. and there not even installed properly. I'd say putting them in the spare wheel bay is probably not the best idea.
