question about the "big three" upgrade

Okay, so every good audiophile knows that in order to get maximum flow through their electrical system is to upgrade the "big three". Piece of cake, but one question. On my s13's battery terminal, i have a wire that goes to my positive lead coming from my alternator, and then a red clip lookin thing with 2 wires that i have no idea where they come from. My question is, what the hell is that clip thing, and what are those 2 wires for?

g3bio 03-02-2006 09:32 PM

hey, take some pictures and lets see what we got...

Trace the wires...might be something someone installed years ago I.e. audio, alarm, etc....

Why are you posting about your positive lead anyway? Big three is ground...HORRIBLE TITLE!! lol jk...

^^^Yeah take some pictures and lets see teh wires....

thats it there

im going to change the battery terminal to one that is part of a s
et i bought. It has a built in volt meter. AND i was gonna change the wire that comes off the aalternator cuz mine's lookin kinda gamey.

The other wires carry power direct to the ignition and to the fuse panels (usually)

I removed them from the "clip" and used the extra positions on my positive terminal (the type that has allen screws to lock down on wires) to get power to them. I'll see if I can get a photo tonight...

its 100,000,000 times cleaner than mine!

My car has been setting for like 2 weeks now, first my battery kept dying, now I have to complete my silvia conversion, all I need now is the headlight brackets, and side fenders!

Well first i used some regular duplicolor gray primer. then for the black i used duplicolor's spray paint for engines (ya know, the paints with ceramic or whatever) it was "satin black" not flat and not gloss. Then i tried to do some masking and what not to try to paint the letters silver and crap, but gave up and painted them with duplicolor's engine spray paint, color: "aluminum". I sprayed the paint into a cup and painted the letters by hand. Be sure to get the surface aboslutely smooth before priming it, so it comes out like mine. I would sandblast it if possible, like i did.

wow dude, props on the incredibly clean engine... what do you use to get it so clean?

LA_phantom_240 03-06-2006 08:22 PM

A cmbination of a product made by castrol called SUPERCLEAN, a tootbrush, a larger scrub brush, about 4 hours labor, a water hose, and when it was all dry, i used Black Magic Tirewet on the plastic pieces. Of course that was before i painted my valve cover and put the strut bar on. Im suprised it stayed so clean.
