Question about bypassing amps

Well aftermy use of the search button I found out that I need to bypass the amps in the rear and find the adaptor for the antenna/ground.

Couple of questions...

1) When trying to power up teh deck with the line running from the fusebox to the headunit to use a red wire. Could someone expand on this?

2) I've heard that bypassing stock amps is potentially dangerous to the headunit, I heard this from my friend who works as a technician installing radios for best buy.

and

3) where can i find the adaptor for the ant/gnd? I didn't see any at bestbuy or radioshack

the S14's are a giant puzzle, sucks for you, good luck

If you are trying to put in an aftermarket head unit (which I reccommend) then the easiest is to hard wire the existing speakers (or this is a good time to upgrade those as well) to the headunit....clean sound....lil time consuming and Circuit City has the antenna adapter or u can go to www.metra.com and order one !

I don't think that is the correct site for Metra, I don't know it myself either, but is there any other way around just hardwiring the existing speakers?

I guess what I'm trying to say is, how do you bypass the amps? Oh, hell...let me search while I'm at it.

the adapter is available all over the place for the antenna. just search around. I think cardomain has it for a decent price maybe?

as for bypassing the amps, i have aftermarket speakers and head unit and I never had to bypass the amps, just bought a harness, wired it up and was good to go.

ok, I didn't want to open a new thread since this is about bypassing the stock amps. Where is the amp for the rear speakers located? I wasn't for sure that it had one...:dunno:

on s14 i think they're right next to each other, under the rear deck panel or whatever. (under and between rear stock speakers)

In the trunk on the driver's side for the S13. Under the speaker "shelf", or whatever you want to call it. Just start taking stuff apart, you'll find it.
