Which speaker sizes fit?
Which speaker sizes fit?
Hey, I just got a '90 240 and after much frustration I rewired the wiring harness that the previous owner hacked to death to get my Kenwood KDC-519 in there. Anyway, I turned on the system and not suprisingly it had some of the ****tiest speakers I've ever heard. I took the door panels off and found a set of DEI Studio (seriously old school) aftermarket component speaker setups in there. I was wondering what size speakers can possibly fit in there to replace em. I've got some 6" JL TR600-CXs in my Honda that i'm thinking of swapping in there if they'll fit. But other then getting more components to fill the hole I was wondering if like some 4x6s or 5x7s would fit in there. If anyone could help thatd be great.

The 6" will need work. Other than that, go for it.

1990 Nissan 240SX

so atleast i hve music
I had those same Pioneers in my old 240. Pretty damn good considering I got all 4 for $75, but I know what you mean they don't do low frequencies too well. The Alpine 4x6's I have now though, do pretty good with bass.
4X6 is a ba speaker size
it sucks how 240's come with that plastice mount for 4x6 speakers, i just removed it and used a piece of would cut to the same size as the platice thing and mounted 6 1/2 bostons up front, they can produce noice that not even the highest end 4x6 could. I have 6X9's and 2 12's my system is one of the best i ever heard because i have great high in the front, great high's and mids from the 6X9's and great bass from my subs. Do not just buy what speaker will fit in a stock 240, becuase our cars are so easily costomized that any speaker size could fit anywhere in this car. I have my 6x9's mounted in the cieling right above the back seet. THe angle of the ceeling points them forward a little and the sound is amazing. think outside the box.
