Which Speakers
 

My stock speakers, front and back, are completely shot. I need to get some new ones... Looking for something thats a direct replacement -- sounds good and has a reasonable price... lower the better

I listen to rap, rock, techno, country mostly, so something that sounds good across the board. Was looking at RF, but it's very pricey, heard iffy stuff about planet audio.

Looking for any and all suggestions. thanks

Ive had good experience with Pioneers for "Best bang for the buck" Many others will agree....I would honestly spend a little more for your fronts (I.E. Infniniti :thumb: Maybe components) and then just get pioneers for the rear...

For a simple easy to install speaker, I'd recommend the 4x6 Alpines. I used to have Pioneers, well I don't have the Alpines any more either, but the Alpines were better. You'll need new screws that are long enough to install them though, otherwise simple install with some trimming of their brackets for the front. Right now I have Infinity 4x6 Kappas, but I would not use them with out an amp and they needed more cutting and drilling....

4x6” size speakers is what is recommended, however some 5x7” speakers will work too. It really does not matter much, in most cases 4x6” is to small and 5x7’ is too big. What you really need to look for is mounting depth. Pioneer is the BEST speaker for the PRICE. Alpine will usually be a little more, but it also sounds better. Most people cannot tell much difference for casual listening. Both of those are very good recommendations. I personally put CDT Audio 6.5” 2 way components in my front doors and removed the rear speakers all together. In doing so my window would hit the speaker magnet when it was rolled down; so I used a .5” spacer and it works like a dream.

BTW in my personal opinion Infinity is way over priced, and extremely targeted to young kids with to much money and old men with fat wallets.

Audio System 1991 240SX
 

I ran a sweet set up in my 1991 240SX. It was a challenge with the front speakers but it worked. The following is the item set up:

1. Front Door (Built wood panel using factory 4X6 plastic adaptor) to fit a pair of Kicker KS5.2 5 1/4 component set.

2. The kicker tweeters went on the door panels near the top which angle toward the driver and passenger.

3. The amp to run the front is a Kicker KX200.2 which gives 70 RMS of true power.

4. Alpine deck sliped in no issues.

5. The subs are Kicker DCVR 10 in a pre-loaded enclosed ported box facing the hatch. 2ohm load at terminal cup.

6. Amp to run subs is a Kicker 400.1 which pumps out 200 to each 10.

Wiring was 12 gauge throught and 4 gauge to battery with 8 gauge to amps. RCA's throughout.

Not sure if i'm going to put anything in the rear decksides because so close to subs...may not hear them. System sounds great!

Front speakers: Alpine SPS-171A 6.5” component
Rear speakers: Alpine SPR-17LP 6.5” 2 way.
Deck is like 160 or so online. Speakers are $100 a pair front and back. I ran all new shieled wiring to the speakers... the stock wires are so tiny. I like kicker a lot as a brand, I have a kicker dual voice coil 12 and a kicker 600.1 sub amp. I want to go with 2 10's in the walls on the sides of the back seat... that looks like a sick setup.

Honestly dude I work at circuit city installing car stereos and speakers. I would go with some nice infinity's and install 1" tweeters right behind the front. The Kappa series are the best and they're affordable.

so basically - infiniti kappas, pioneers and alpine are the most liked...

I'm gonna rock stock mounting if i can, not a big audio nut, and i dont want to f*ck anything up
