I had the older pioneer ts-g4647 in my old 240, which look like almost like the same speaker as the ts-g4640r. I thought they were pretty good speakers. In my car now, I have alpine sps-460a speakers which I think sound a bit clearer overall, especially in the high frequencies. I'd still recommend the pioneers though, if that's any help.

depends wat your set up is. . if u want to have subs. get something wit a clear sound such as the new "power" for fosgate or infinity kappas. if u want decent speakers for not to much get the pioneers.. they are cheap but sound decent -=D

if you haven't bought your speakers yet, here is an idea: instead of going with litle 4x6" speakers, take out the enclosure for the speakers, make a 1/2" thick MDF template, and put a 6.5" speaker in the door. This way, you have a larger selection of speakers, as 6.5" is the most common speaker size, and they can handle more power, and since its a round speaker, it will sound better than a oval.

put the alpine up against a set of focal or diamond audio speakers to see which own... i agree with the 6.5 in speakers in the doors... it takes some work but well worth it when it comes to sound...
the weight issue is an interesting thing... if you remove the stock amps (if you have the active speaker system) the amp in each door has about the same weight as a speaker... so take that out rewire the stereo and you are still at the same weight...

Diamond audio? Ive seen them before, but never really heard of them... saw em on ebay and were cheap, so i thought they were some cheap knockoff brand...kinda like how pep boys stocks "dual" a.k.a. the worst speakers money can buy
