Naw. It's one of those "subs" setups

I went to check it out ->after<- I installed it. They go for $40.00
I am so glad I din't, or someone I know didn't actually pay for that! So after I get her back I may spend the rest of my life saving on speakers. yay. (that's like $100)

I've got infinity kappa 6.5"s in the back and infinity reference 4x6 plate speakers in the doors of my 92 coupe. I think it sounds great considering i didn't spend too much.

Alpine Type-R 6x9s in the rear deck

Alpine Type-R 10" sub

Alpine V12 mono amp

I have:

Front - 2 way Pioneer TS-G1640R
Rear - 3 way Pioneer TS-A1671R
Head unit - Sony CDX-F5705X

I'm very pleased with the way it sounds (very clear), but I'm definately getting some form of subs down the line.

also note: I would not consider myself any form of an audiophile. All i know is that this def sounds nicer than stock.

How deep can the 6.5 component be? I'd imagine there would be a lot of cutting to get it to fit. Just wondering cause I'm looking to install into my gf 240. bought her a 91 fb.

thanks.

id recommend getting pioneers. their decent in price and are well worth it. my brother has them in his altimas. he has 2 twelve each 450watts hooked up with a 800watt amp also pioneer. he has a jvc kameleon stereo in it, the older version, and its sounds awesome. the stereo blends in with the dash so its very unrecognizable until u turn it on. my plans are also to have the same hook up but more power in my 240 over the summer

Currently I have:

Pioneer DEH-16 Head Unit(bought it just for now since the head unit that came with the car ate one of my cd's, upgrading to mp3/wma playing, probably the N1, unit later)

Pioneer TS-A4670R Front Door Speakers

Forget the model number of the speakers mounted in the rear...

It's not no big bass system, just enough for me to hear and enjoy my music while driving

I have two cardboard and two cardboards i nthe back. Somehow the dude who sold me the car changed the speaker wiring, the head unit, and the power cables, but installed some super ceapry almost carboard type speaker. As for the bass, the sound like sh*t but they are prety good with the other sounds, they are not loud. the head unit was a Eclipse unit, which is allright. I'm thinking getting some 300 watt speakers on each door and two 400 watts on the back ,and having some good amp for them.

I'm thinking I'm gonna go pioneer all the way, except for subs and amps. They have some of the nicest sounding 6x9's I've heard... especially compared to the sony's.
I dont know what everyone is talking about, because my 91 fastback has 4x6's all the way around... and pioneers are okay, but i think boston acoustic and memphis audio are also really good choices... except getting the right speakers for the door is a *****

dont like alpine much do ya? ... i had a question, in my acura legend that im using till my 240 is worthy of the road, i have an alpine mrv-t757 (i think thats the model number) 2 channel amp and it sounds great in the acura, considering theres like an inch of insulation between the trunk and the cabin... would that be too much for the 240 and throw the sound balance off?
oh and btw, sony xplod subs suck goat *****... get some bazookas or some alpines

Well, when it comes to what you want in a speaker, no one can really tell you what sounds good to you -- so my suggestion is to probably go to your local Best Buy or Circuit City when it's not busy, and go listen to some speakers. Typically the higher end ones do sound nicer, but you'll notice slight differences in the way some of them handle certain tones.

Personally, I've decided to go with Infinity Reference speakers, and Alpine Type-R Subs. As for an amp, I'm still looking for a decently priced D-class, and definitely not looking to power the speakers with a 4-chan Amp yet...just running it off the stock system. It'll be decent enough, and easy enough to get rid of the box when I go to the track.

Hope that helps...
