Where to put crossovers?

For those of you that have component sets, where do you put your crossovers.

I currently have mine in my door (kinda just chilling there with the wires connected to it) with some glad wrap on it to keep water off it when it rains.

How do the pros do it?

Thanks

I've got mine shoved up under my dash.

mine is in the trunk covering the trunk latch

Im getting distortion when I turn up the volume loud. Im not sure if its the tweeters or my wires or what (maybe because my crossover is beside my woofer - magnet?).

I plan on replacing my stock wires to 16 gauge or so, but for now I have 16 guage coming off the stock wires to my crossover and the tweeter and woofer coming off the crossover with 16 gauge.

Anyone else having a similar problem?

The place I usually put crossovers for component sets is between the door panel and the door metal. It helps if you first find a place behind the door panel that the x-over will fit. They ususaly come with screw holes(use REALLY short screws!). Sometimes you can cut out a little of the styrofoam from the door panel and mount it so that it fits snugly in that space when the door panel is back on.

I have mine mounted in the door panel near the front. Sorta right above the woofer.

i work at circuit city car audio (intstaller). we normally wrap it with a plastic bag (crossover) and tape the mofo up for good seal. then use a 3m velcro to stick it to a safe location, out of the window rails way. so it doesn't get caught when the windows down. with the distortion, try hooking up a 4 channel amp. if u don't have one, any speakers would distort at high volume. almost if not all aftermarket decks only have about 22 watts rms.

on the drivers side it's in the kick panel/fuse box area and i think it's above the glove box area.

so where does everyone mount the tweeters? if you put them in the pillar i think you'd have to run new wire anyway, so you might as well keep the crossover inside the car. just my opinion...

i made custom tweeter pods that go in the corner of the door and window if u know what i mean so i have to run new wire.

My tweeter is mounted on the door. Its high on the door so people don't block it with their leg, but my roommate still manages to block it with his knee.
