ca18det 1/8 mile time

Here's my best run for my first time ever at the 1/8 mile drag strip.
Mods: Internally Stock CA18DET 2.5" FMIC Equal length exhaust manifold 3" turbo back exhaust w/ test pipe stock t25 @ 7psi KA24E MAF Stage 3 clutch clutch fan No PS or AC 175/15 rear tires @ 30 psi I was getting better with each run, but my night was cut short cause my hot pipe kept coming off and the officials black flagged me for the night. My best run was against a fox body v8 mustang with slicks. Reaction .8678 60ft 2.1242 330ft 6.1262 1/8 ET 9.3912 1/8 MPH 75.89 With better tires I believe I could possibly get close to 80mph since I was burning tires through 3rd gear. Attachment 20393 |
nice job. get some new tires!

Thanks! I'm hunting around for a pair of steelies that will accommodate some thicker rubber for next weekend. There's a few Mustangs I wouldn't mind upsetting :headbang2: :checkeredflag:

you guys don't run 1/4
1/8 mile benefits Ops guys more to me personal.. good stuff though |
We just don't have a 1/4 drag near by, or we would be sure to hit that up.

Sounds like decent times, but someone help me here. I'm new to 240's so what does one run stock? I used to run 9.30's all day long in my stone stock fox body mustang. I'm not dogging this fella I'm just trying to get an idea of how much faster than stock these times are. :ylsuper:
|
Stock s13 240sx with ka24de bone stock would prolly be a nightmare on the drag. Its been awhile since I've had my ka, but I would say bone stock I would have seen around low 10's on the 1/8 or mid 15's in the 1/4. Engine has alot of torque, so good low end acceleration.
Anyone got any 1/8 or 1/4 times for a bone stock KA? :notify: |
I wasn't sure. Sounds like you have a sweet car though. Is that on street tires? Did it spin much? I'm gonna try to get mine to the track this friday night if I can get this shifter figured out. :smilie_thumbsup:
|
Lol. I guess it helps if i read it all. I'd love to see what your car runs on some drag radials. :ylsuper:
|
I could not get a decent launch to save my life! I was easily spinning the tires through 3rd gear and sometimes got a little sideway action out of 2nd gear. I'm confident with some better traction I could break into the 8's / 80+mph trap. I'll be on the track this Friday too!
|
Yea if you were running 9.30's spinning then you should get deep into the 8's. :smilie_thumbsup:

Just some ideas I have to maybe help out a little. To prevent spinning, try putting a little weight in the trunk. If you have removed your spare put it back and set a few bricks the spare tire well to keep them from moving around. It should do more good than bad even being more weight on the car b/c the track is a 1/8mi. I have had friends with Mustangs and Camaros with traction problems re-install their speaker box and be able to run faster times b/c of the extra traction the weight gave them. About the hot pipe blowing off, I have seen people use hairspray or rubber cement to help the coupler stick to the pipes better. I assume you have good T-bolt clamps as well. Maybe doubling them up would help. I hope some of this helps. :smilie_thumbsup:

I was running alright tonight, not as good as last week. On average I was running consistent 75mph traps between 9.5 - 10's ET times. Nothing has changed with my car, but I'm still trying to learn to slip my stage 3 clutch. Here are some stuff to share...
Attachment 20281 Two of my best times were against v8's running 107/108mph in the 8th mile For most of the night, I was the only four cylinder car there, but towards the end of the night a four door Honda Civic with a GSR motor swap showed up. He ran: Reaction .6611 60ft 2.5380 330ft 6.8768 9.7129 ET@594ft 10.3458 1/8ET 71.10 1/8mph I ran: Reaction 1.0241 60ft 2.3789 330ft 6.4789 9.1767 ET@594ft 9.7767 1/8ET 74.99mph Not my best time, but well enough for the win since I had to catch his ass. Here is a line up of an Impala SS with air induction, exhaust and 100 shot Nos http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m...h_MVI_0006.jpg He ran: Reaction .6669 60ft 1.8259 330ft 5.2560 7.6102 ET@594ft 8.1353 1/8 ET 85.7mph I lost at 9.9479 1/8 ET @ 74.03mph Here's a line up photo against Camaro SS with some unknown mods Attachment 20282 He ran 8.8681 1/8 ET @ 82.97mph I ran crappy at 10.7136 1/8 ET @ 73.76 ^This is the car I really wanted to upset, but never got a 2nd chance.^ Here's a video of what a 108.91mph car vs 74.41 mph car looks like. Also, a good vid to show how poor my launch is. If I can learn to launch 1st and 2nd gear, I believe I can hit 80mph traps and hopefully break in the 8's times. http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m...h_MVI_0007.jpg That was a mean car! He fouled, but ran: Reaction .4948 60ft 1.4202 330ft 4.0492 5.8761 ET@594ft 1/8 ET 6.2893 108.91 1/8mph Using a race calculator, that would translate to a 9.67 second car in the 1/4 mile! I ran Reaction .7960 60ft 2.1890 330 ft 6.2690 8.9941 ET@594FT 1/8 ET 9.5988 74.41 1/8mph That's all that's worth showing for this week. All my other runs were against drag ready v8 monsters! Not sure if I'll run next week, unless I make any changes to the car... well see how it goes. I'm off from here for now.. lata. |
