Launches?

When you guys are doing a drag race, how do you normally launch?

I've been doing some experimenting on finding the quickest way to launch the 240.
I find if i slowly let clutch off with no throttle, to a very slow roll (almost none) then when the flag is droped, dump the clutch and hit gas. Or same can be done around 2.5-3.5krpms without breaking tires loose.

I was just wondering how everyone launches here? What RPMS, what techniques? Grip or spin? etc.

Shallow-stage, then left-foot brake and pull up the parking-brake handle. Bring the car up to the converter's 2000 rpm stall, then leave on the third amber by dropping the brake lever and sidestepping the pedal. The nitrous is on a WOT switch, so it hits almost immediately. Unless the track is badly-prepared, the drag radials don't spin - it just hooks and goes.

i see ...

my tires spin all the time, they are almost bald lol. maybe thats why i have such ****ty launches, no grip!

BFG Drag Radials are the best investment you can make if you've got a pair of spare stock wheels to mount them on.

yeah u need new tires.. i have been there and done that.

heres my opinion...
rev to about 2000-2500 rpm slip the clutch to about grabbing point. when the flag is dropped(lights go, or arms dropped) evenly release clutch and mash gas.

yeah thats what i've been doing.

As far as tires, when tax returns get back in feb. i'm buying my 5zigens w/ new rubber :-)

when i race i always dump my clutch at 3500-4000, and always have faster launch then dumping at 2500

ummm duh?! start in 5th and repeditivly slam the clutch until either you get the danger to manifold light or your floor pan falls out. Either or, you should be able to pull a 10 second run with those mad skills.
