track run

well i got my 240 down to the track. its my first time driving stick on a track so i did alright. my best run was a 16.779 and 77 mph.....that was my last run, so i was slowly getting the hang of it. i couldnt get into 4th when i tried the first time so it took a bit of my time off.

for most of my runs i shifted at 5500 rpms, cuz i assumed if that was where the peak HP was at, i should shift at that. after telling one of my friends that he told me that you're supposed to shift about 300-400 rpm after that peak. in the final run i held third to about 6000, then i missed 4th, and that still was my best run. so holding third gear a bit more must have helped. i wanna try holding all the gears a little longer and see how i do. do you guys have any suggestions, and how do you think that time was?

after i ran i weighed my car, it weighed in at 3066 with me in it.

my car is a stock '93 240 LE fastback with the super hicas and LSD.

Sounds about right for a hicas car.

hicas is slower? why is that? what other times do people run with stock 240's?

They are a little heavier(But then again they have a VLSD), you should hit lower/mid 16s.

Drag racing really isnt my things...but 4k-4.5k and shift just under 6k.

I'm pretty into drag racing, and when I ran my 240 stock with a Silvia lsd, it ran a 16.4. However I only ran it once because I didn't really care what it ran because I was getting my sr20 in soon afterwards. I should have my car back later this week with my sr20 in it, can't wait to run it after I break the engine and clutch in.

If I can give you any tips for drag racing, it is to practice and practice your launches. The more times you run your car, the better your times are going to be. Good luck.
