Drifting wit out power steering

ok i got my rb and i havent put my powersteerin back in yet cause i dont have the lines...

now my question is has ne one drifted wit out powersteering before?
How bad is it?

MS!3 04-02-2007 04:13 PM

id imagine itd be harder, but then again lots of ppl take out there p/s, what ever you want your car to feel like.

Biggamehit 04-02-2007 04:44 PM

its not hard at all. been doing it for 4 years now...... feels good bro.. once you go beyond 10mph steering free's up

positron 04-02-2007 04:47 PM

True! It only feels bad at low speeds like while trying to manuever into parking spaces or whatnot.

ok i thought i would ask u guys cause i mean i have been drifting wit pwrsteering for like 4 years now and i was kinda hesitate to see what would happen if i didnt have it ne more

Biggamehit 04-02-2007 05:12 PM

also one less thing to burst/break on you bro lol.. those things will break under the high pressure of constant left and right movements

I've talked to a few guys about drifting without p/s and they say it's not such a big deal. I've also talked to a few people with p/s (like myself) and they say it sucks to not have it in your car. I suppose it's one of those typical "bias - who has what" ordeals.

I took my p/s off for a while..... Drifting is really not a problem, just kind of sucks in parking lots. When you are drifting it is the same as if you had p/s, and better for canyon runs. In my opinion.

bringing back an old thread.

but... i recently took out my power steering. i cut cut the lines and left a little bit of fluid in there for lubrecation. the point where i cut the lines, i crimped them so they are sealed. yes, after a certain speed, it will free up. but not a whole lot that i can quickly turn. theres still a slight resistance. i looked at the fsm and there is a steering rack ratainer. i believe it is used to slow down the rack while turning if you have power steering. so what i did was i took out the plastic that put friction upon the rack. after that it is still the same.

steering frees up at around 10-15mph but it gets resistance if i turn the wheel about 100 degrees any way from straight.

i have tenzo R lowering springs and thats it i have done to the suspension.

the tire pressure is all at 38psi if that even matters.

sorry for resurrecting an old thread. thanks for the future responces. and sorry for the length. its a fast back btw.

i dont have power steering in my sr and i LOVE it.

TypeX180 10-29-2007 08:49 PM

i don't either..i don't hate it..haha

nightkid86 10-29-2007 08:52 PM

No power steering in the 1960 morgan. It's fine. No power brakes or synchros either. Makes it all the more fun

Talde 10-29-2007 09:19 PM

so are ya'lls 240 hard to turn after a certain amount of turning the wheel at any given speed over 10 mph? or resistance per say

TypeX180 10-29-2007 09:20 PM

nah..i don't think its hard..it only sucks backing into spaces

crazydrifter 10-29-2007 10:00 PM

the only thing i dont like doing is low speed U-turns, it does get harder to turn the wheel the more you turn it in one direction.

backin in is easy its just the turnin the wheel from all the way the right to the left at a dead stop to back in thats hard
