Learning to Drift

I am trying to learn how to drift the safe way first. Ive been playing the new xbox game Forza Motorsport which is the most realistic Ive played so far. Ive played games in which you can drift in the past but that must have been more fake then I ever thought (underground 2). In Forza you can drift but its mostly accidently, more of a Kansei Drift. Anyway, now knowing it is very hard to get a good drift has gave me a new found respect to the professional drifters out their.

Anyway, I was wondering if you can help me set up a 1998 Nissan 240 SX SE.
This game allows the player to go into some major tuning. In the tuning section I can tune options like Alignment and Aero. I have problems getting traction in the front tires. near the end of the turn the front of my cars starts plowing. This may me due to the fact that I mostly try Power Over Drifts and Kansei Drifts. Anyway I would like if you can give me some pointers on what to have my settings on. Thx.

Tires: Tire Pressure- Front, Rear (psi)
Gearing: Forward Gears- F.D., 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th (Ratio 3.56,3.57...etc)
Alignment: Camber- Front, Rear (-/+ -.05* etc)
Toe- Front, Rear (-/+ -.05* etc)
Caster- Front (-/+ 5.1* etc)
Anti-Roll: Anti-Roll Bar- Front, Rear (stiff/soft 1.0....50.0 etc)
Springs: Springs- Front, Rear (stiff/soft 3.08.7 etc)
Ride Height- Front, Rear (low/high 6.2in etc)
Damping: Bump Damping- Front, Rear (soft/stiff 1.0-20.0 etc)
Rebound Damping- Front, Rear (soft/stiff 1.0-20.0 etc)
Aero: Downforce- Front, Rear (speed/cornering 125lbl etc)
Braking: Balance- Front (low/high 0%-100%)
Preasure- Force (low/high 0%-100%)
E-Brake- Rate (slow/fast 1,777 lbs etc)
Differential: Rear- Accel, Decel (low/high 0%-100%)

Not trying to get you to give me exact numbers but just giving you an idea of what I have to work with. Any advice would be helpful. Thx for your time.

As a general rule of thumb, start out with a stiff rear, stiff dampening in rear, soft front, soft dampening in front. Brake balance mosty to the front. High psi in the back. See how that goes and tune from there on as you get better.

no sry, it was xbox's answer to GT series. but if u ever get an xbox i suggest buying it, the online is quite fun when you have a race team playin with ya. the game can be frusterating tho if you are used to games like midnight club that arnt very realistic at all. you actually have to use your brakes before a corner in this game. they even have elevation changes in the road that severaly affect your turning. best racing game ive played yet.

for the 98 240sx se they have motorswaps......sr20det rb25det rb26dett, they also have the 98 silvia on 2000 slivia spec-r that i have yet to drive, looks very sweet tho
they also have 2 300zx's but they weigh so much that i dont think they make a good drift car.

forza is a genuine POS, there is no replacement for GT4, and no competition, best game ever made hands down

GT4 The ultamite(sp) simulation, except crashing into something at 250 mph causes your car to stop, not explode in flames....right.

There are pros and cons to each game but you look likea noob when you make a broad statement like that with in facts to back you up. How's the online play in gt4, there is none.

The only grip I have is that some dirt will slow you from 200mph to 30 to quick if this was the cause they could line shoulders with it on mountions to prevent runaway trucks. That and when you start doing 1080's for no reason, don't really see cars in real life getting slipped for no damage but spinning around endlessly for 20 seconds.

I played GT4 and it was pretty sweet, but hands down i really like this one much better then i did gt4. just my oppinion, ive heard some liking gt4 better, they like being able to change your oil and wash ur car, anyway, the physics are much better in this one.

ilovesilvia 05-17-2005 03:36 PM

the physics are better in which one??

smokey240sx 05-18-2005 10:56 PM

i refuse to buy a game without a s13.

phreze 05-18-2005 11:42 PM

Whats the point of having an s13 if you cant swap in a sr20det rb25 or rb26?
