Newbie Drifter

Hey guys, I was interested in learning how to drift, but what do i need to get started?

Bryan 08-15-2005 12:04 PM

first you need a super ultra tyte jdm ride, but I see you already have a 1996 240sx SE!! Now we all know that you need an SR20 to drift, get that stupid truck motor out of there, no one uses that thing. Now that you have the SR20 your going to want Silvia badges, they add some hp and the chicks will dig your jdm tyteness. Don't forget the super jdm wheels, fwd offsets work better than anything so I would suggest some super fwd wheels on the car. Do some suspension crap and be a drifter like all the other super tyte drifter guys

lol were all aholes to the newbs...but seriously search around for styles and techniques....suspension is first along with a lsd, other than that u just need seat time to become better:thumb:

if u wanna learn some techniques, DL or buy the Drift Bible.

and for the rest, SEARCH, its the best way you'll learn and be able to setup your ride to drift. There TOO MUCH info you need to know, and we cant just go and explain it all (most of which has been explained b4)

Hey S13 240 .. with all due respect, don't be a ****!NG *******!
The guy is just looking for some advice, i don't think you represent this board very well treating people like that.

To begin drifting you need: NOTHING!
It is best to learn in a stock car. Make sure your car is safe. Serach around online for techniques, watch tons of vids, and DL the drift bible.
I'll send to to you over aim: Maxboost724

Get used to taking corners without loosing traction, if you get used to the speed, the drifting will be a lot easier to start.
You can't just get in a car and start drifting it takes time. You also might want to go to a junkyard and get some tires(make sure they fit correctly). you'll go through a lot of them.

Hope that helps, anything else, reach me on AIM.

You don't NEED to beat the crap out of it ... but unless your Keiichi or Fumiyaki, its gonna happen! lol
Money is big too.
Wide open spaces? C'mon, thats what body shops are for, don't they have honda's in your town?

CowboyTurbo 08-16-2005 06:16 PM

actually I live in white rich preppy suburbia~ minivans, suvs, and beamers, everything in the freakin' town closes by 10. And there's a town law stating no fast food stores can open here... the cops love to pull me over even when my N1 is rumbling at 2500 so I have to circle the town off my highway exit to get home asap when I go out, I can go on and on... Lexington is supposed to be the birthplace of freedom (first battle of revolutionary war) but I guess it's a much better example of the hypocrisy of the system

Cape 240 08-16-2005 06:38 PM

LOL, sweet!

cops don't really care around here, as long as your in the industrial park.
Its like the "designated area" for racing.
They firgure, we're gonna do it anyways, so why not let us organize where people aren't around.

CowboyTurbo 08-16-2005 06:52 PM

dammit I have to find some industrial parks where the cops will let me be. I literally don't practice drifting because I can't find any places around here where I won't get in trouble. All I can do is make a couple passes in my elementary school parking lot and then high tail it outta there before the cops show up.

Cape 240 08-16-2005 07:09 PM

you feel constricted!?!?!
I can't even leave my neighborhood.
I don't get my liscense until October. I'm only 16 lol. I'm stuck to driving around my neighborhood like 6-7 --thousand-- times a day.:spin:
