5th gear sensor?

Ok my and my buddy are trying to figure out what this sensor actualy dose for the car. If you do not connect it the car runs fine and you remove your speed limiter. What else dose it effect?

Ya we both knew that we are actualy both electrical techies lol so we understood that much. We are interested to know if the ECU dose not recive the signal that you are in OD (5th gear) dose it have any effect on the ECU fule maps? We just though it might be interesting if this mod has a negative effect on highway gas milage or somthing. The main reason I am concerned about this is I am about to do a 5spd swap so we are a bit interested on it.

BTW if anyone else is doing a 5spd swap and you have cruise control PVT me for my wiring setup to utilize the ASCD cancel switch on the clutch pedal.

Ok did some research on the 5th gear sensor and here is what I have found it dose exactly

1. Detects when the car is shifted into 5th gear (duh)
2. Causes the ECU to begin to monitor KM/h or MPH and engauges the speed limiter function
3. Plugs the threaded hole its connected in and keeps oil in (lol just for jokes)

Disconnection of the 5th Gear Sensor

1. Removes the Speed Limiter and has no negative effect on the ECU
2. Will not effect fule maps so milage is not effected

And that is that so disconnect and have fun :D
