Awd S13?

I was searching on Ebay for a new tranny for my s13 and saw that there is an AWD canadian tranny for sale. Did the S13 ever come in AWD? Can this conversion be done on a USDM S13? And wha parts would be needed?

Here is the link to what i found...

no, the AWD SR tranny is for the Bluebird or pulsar

and if im not mistaken the engine in those cars are actually mounted "sideways" (like in a sentra or a civic) and so it would be a ***** to swap the engine/tranny in...it would actually be easier to swap in a RB26DETT if you want AWD

I wouldn't even try it unless I had money out the ass because it would be expensive as all hell.

Moved to "Drivetrain"

How does dropping in a RB26DETT make an S13 AWD? Is that edition of the Skyline AWD? I thought all Skylines were RWD.

I also thought that on the S13 came with an opinion 4 wheel steering system? Is that only in the JDM models?

It doesnt...you cant use the rb26 trans... you use the rb25, becasue the tranfer case is seperate from the trans. Four Wheel STEERING is not 4WD... that was called HICAS

I only asked for a point of clarification. I had never heard of an AWD S13. I wouldnt do the swap.

And as for why.... AWD > RWD. You put more power to the wheels and get better traction control.

So i :barf: on you opinion and say...

Reading comprehension is not your strong point.

See, Catharsis asked "Whats the poont?" In response i said "AWD > RWD."

And i never asked anyones opinion, i asked for factual information.

1) I would never do the swap. I am just seeking info about what i saw on ebay. I am trying to learn as much about tuning as possible, so i will ask questions that dont pertain to my car.

2) I didnt know you or whoever is a mod is a mod, and i dont care if your a mod or that person is. As a moderator of a forum, i would hope that the person was take their role seriously and actually be welcoming and provide people with information instead of trying to flame people once they arrive. Nice way to welcome people.

well you get better inital traction however in the end the fastest cars in the world are RWD and if i want more traction i wil get something like a DTA and have all the ajustable traction i want.

the fact remains the fabrication needed to make a RWD chassis awd is not worth it due to the problems it creates with the suspention.

go buy a subaru

Yes the S13 hatch had 4 wheel steering ad a option super hicas, it was avail in the US , rare but mostly unwanted...
