Cluch Problems
Cluch Problems
Alright, I bought my car a few months ago, ran perfectly fine for a while (92 240sx m/t coupe), so one day my clutch starts slippin, ofcourse i go "greaat..." and my clutch pedal changes feels before it does it... so i go to my mechanic and tell him about my problem, he says could be the slave, but wouldnt hurt to change the master at the same time. I got a couple hundred extra in my wallet so why not, he does the work and for a day (a cold rainy day), its all fine until the next day, in the morning i drive to school and my clutch is perfectly fine. I'm drivin back when its now like 80 degrees and before i even start the car i feel alot of resistance from the clutch (this has been so before the master and slave change). So i drive around and its all good except if i push the car a bit in a gear too high it starts slippin, and the feel of the clutch varies, but by outside temperate which is strange to me, if its hot outside, the clutch clamps almost right before the pedal is almost fully released, if its cold outside it clams before mid point. What in the world is the problem? Also i have the whole 1st gear hard to engage thing like many others seem to have, someone said it was normal but if i drive for a longer time it almost gets to a point where i cant put it into 1st. What's the problem there? Thank you.
i have the same exact problem with mine, im not sure what it is either. anyone have a idea on this. i replaced my clutch two months ago, new master, slave, throw out bearing, resurfaced fly wheel, bleed system multiply times. not sure why it does this.
I just talked to a mechanic who knows what he's talking about and he said its the pressure plate being worn out, i'm plannin on getting an exedy performance kit soon so that should definitely solve my problem. Although i just had another source that said the master cylinder has to be adjusted to the right level, i'll run that by my mechanic and see whats up.
Hey guys I have this same problem aswell. My clutch engages a lot fast (less play) when I drive for long periods or when it is really hot. When its cold its perfect as well. This problem really bugs me a lot. I hope someone comes up with a solution. It's really killing the "fun to drive" part of the car.
ken if your clutch is rather new it will do that, mine did. As far as loosing pressure in ur pedal and ur clutch slipping... well sounds like an old clutch, and well my pedal started getting really really light right before i literally melted my through out bearing, not saying thats the problem, but u never know.

sup guys, last night when I would shift my clutch pedal would only come out half way and I used the top of my foot to pull it the rest of the way out. this morning my pedal onlycame back about two inches and I could not get it into gear. my fluid was low so I filled it and with the cap off the resivour while pumping the clutch pedal the fluid did not move or get re-circulated. so either my master or my slave cylinder is out. has anyone replaced either of these and will one out of a 300zx work and/or improve performance
Maybe the cylinders aren't out, maybe adjust the pedal itself. I know when I got my 240, it needed a master and slave. I replaced it and still no pedal pressure, I was like wtf. Then I adjusted the pedal (there's a screw you can adjust to how far the pedal pushes on the master). Try that and see if it helps. As far as the 300zx, i doubt it, it's just a part of the clutch line, I don't see how it would improve.
