If you have a USDM coupe and you think you have a factory installed VLSD, you are sadly mistaken.

USDM 240's do in fact have VLSD's. They only came in the cars with HICAS, which are rare. It was also an option seperate from the HICAS, although almost no one got it. Look under the rear at the diff. If it has a vented surface and has an orange VLSD sticker, guess what, you got one. If not, nope, sorry, try again.

the ONLY usdm S13's with an option for HICAS (and thereby, lsd) were hatchbacks. that's what Jerome was getting at. Canadian coupes were the only in North America to feature vlsd's from the factory.

Didnt know that about the coupe not having HICAS. Wow, thats wierd, considering most people think of the coupe as being the sportier model of the two. Well, you learn something new everyday. Sorry for the confusion.

ur right, now that i think about it. the coupe is lighter and stiffer than the hatch, so u'd figure it would have the HICAS/lsd option. makes me wonder what happened there...?

Because, it just so happen to be an ideal situation for traction. Sometimes, even with an open diff, you'll do that.

Textbook way to check get the rear on jacks, spin rear tires. If both spin same way =LSD. Spin oppesite ways= No LSD.

I KNOW!! coupes are stiffer. one thing i don't get is people want to purposely get a hatchback to go drifting, like its required or something... a good example is the ae86 people what the hatchback (because of initial d) more instead of the coupe. for racing purposes a stiffer frame would be better. if takami drove a coupe people wouldn’t want a hatchback ae86. damn takumi wannabes.

sorry had to vent a little. When I got my 240 coupe people would like feel sorry for me because I didn’t get the all mighty hatchback. “cool you got a 240. awwwwww too bad its not a hatchback….” – friends
