grinding in 4th gear, PLEASE HELP!!

hey guys, first off, i have a 95 240sx with an s14 sr20det clip installed. ive had this for about 5 months. just recently i changed my tranny fluid, diff oil, and motor oil. i have a b&m short shifter as well but ive had this for a few months now. well anyways, just recently my 4th gear has been slightly grinding under moderate-full throttle. i have no idea why. so what i did was change the clutch slave, installed a nismo steel braided hose and ditched the damper box, bled the system a million times, adjusted the clutch pedal, and its doing the same thing. the clutch actually feels great. but i still have that grinding. i also get that 2nd gear grinding when i first start up my car before it warms up all the way. and now that i think of it, a lot of the time when im at a stop and i try to put it in 1st its really hard to..gotta kind of shove it in there. any suggestions would be great. oh, and i had a mechanic install a master cylinder a couple months ago. please guys help me out, ive tried so many things and nothing seams to work.

I'm not sure, but kind of sounds like synchro's maybe?

kevin, from LS automotive, said we might need to rebuild and change the 3rd-4th gear synchro..does this sound right? i dont wanna spend unneeded m oney.

Yeah, and if you are having trouble with 1st-2nd, you might want to change that synchro well your at it. Hell, you might as well change all your synchros while you have it apart, just to prevent future problems.

do you have any idea how much that costs?? maybe its better to get a new tranny? also, is there a difference between the s14sr20 tranny then the s13? let me know, btw thanks for you help.

Ummm, I don't know prices for sure. I think synchros are fairly cheap, but it is the labor that can get spendy depending on where you take it. Probably cheaper than getting a new tranny tho. You will definately save some money if you take the tranny out yourself and take it to the shop tho.

damn, ive never done that before..wonder how hard it is to do..well thanks for the help man..i got quoted 500 bucks by that guy, he does the falken teams cars for the d1, as well as others, so he must know what hes doing.

yo james did you get that synchro changed? Im having the same problem on 2nd gear when the car is cold but when its warm the car runs fine. I want to get it done but i dont know how expensive it is.

heres an update:
i found out that my tranny is fine. i adjusted my clutch pedal and i get no more grinding. just gotta push the clutch all the way in..especially when the cars cold..

now, i have this other problem..actually ive had this problem for a while. my clutch pedal gets hard, then soft, then hard, then soft..it sucks. i havent gotten any real explanations for this. ive been seaching and searching..cant find a solution. ive replaced the master and slave cylinder, ditched the damper box, installed the nismo ss clutch line, bled system numerous times..dont know what else to do. ive heard so many reasons why this could be. the only thing i have left to do is swap out that hardline going from the master to the slave, and change my clutch..any suggestions guys??

oh and, i got quoted about 800-1000 for transmission rebuild..synchros and all, then 375 for a new s14 sr20det tranny, $200 bucks for labor..
