hard to shift need help
 

In the morning when i start up my car to get ready for work i have a hell of a time getting the car into gear. but it seems to get better after it heats up a bit. is that normal? or do i need to change something? any advice would be great

Do you feel like the clutch isn't engaging or does the problem feel like it's in the gear shifter itself?

I have to double clutch most of time and its only when it is cold i have a stage 2 clutch

bleed your clutch and replace your gear oil. its cheap and it won't hurt, you never know

I know on my '91 when I started her cold it acted the same way...Haven't really driven the '90 that much yet...

My 91 does this too. I think it's just cause the clutch fluid gets cold and slow, you know? I am going to replace the tranny fluid soon cause I just got the car a month ago, no knowledge of when stuff was performed. New master/slave/line for clutch, and fluid, and it still does it. It's gotta be because of cold fluid.

get your transmission drained and filled. that or do it yourself. use the 75W-90 synthetic gear oil, its what i use. its probably just old slow fluid. you might flush some through the tranny to get the dirt out. its supposed to be done every 15,000 miles, but i do mine like every 5,000. then again, i get it for free. :D

umm pedrolies you know that synthetic gear oil destroys our trans right? unless you have an automatic in which case bah, but there are threads devoted to this discussion. Synthetic will (not all at once of course) destroy your syncros which is a huge $$$ fix. Use GL-4 fluid. If you want confirmation just send pm to l2aine.

yeah i just looked at the forums. apparently im wrong about the gear oil. thats just what i use at valvoline. and hey, i get it for free. i guess ill just go do the 3rd tranny service this month and switch it back. can i use regular GL-5 or is that bad?

If you want to use synthetic, use Royal Purple, which is GL-4 compatible, or Redline MT-4, which is their equivalent of GL-4. The reason GL-5 ruins the synchros is because of the additive they use in it, which GL-4 does not have.

twofotisx : its not the synthetic oil that ruins your synchros, its the extra additives in GL-5 fluids which eat up the copper, or bronze that synchros are made of. synthetic fluids are fine as long as its GL-4.
