im planning on upgrading my engine to make about 350 to 400 hp so i need to know wat clutch upgrade i should get. it'll be a street driven car so i don't want the clutch to be too snappy but still sumthing that can take that power.

my freinds got a ebay clutch stage 3 , with 560hp at wheels , go see my post in the ride galery , he got on the dyno one again and hit 560hp at wheels with high octane gas , and like 40lbs of boost lol , but i think he got a xtd stage 3 , and he told me it dosent slips , other wise , if you want sick grip with stilll a light feeling , go with exedy stage i duno but twin disc , ? think its like still a light feeling but gotta hold up sick hps!

I would recommend the Competition Clutch brand. It has been used by many people and in many race cars. Its a great brand clutch

cool, thanks for all the help, now whats the difference between a twin plate and triple plate clutch? advantages or disadvantages?

papaganoushh 09-02-2006 08:19 PM

triple plate withstands more torque/power capacity

re037 09-02-2006 09:47 PM

also with a firmer pressure plate = sore left leg

papaganoushh 09-06-2006 11:07 PM

you probably wont need the triple plate

diego1103 09-10-2006 04:14 PM

aight, so your basically saying that triple plate withstands more but sucks for daily driving right?? and sorry for asking so many questions but what the difference between the number of plates and the stage ? like what does it dictate.

re037 09-11-2006 11:59 PM

when choosing, just refer to torque capacity rather than 'stages' as each company will have thier own classifications.

diego1103 09-15-2006 02:49 PM

aight, so like a stage 2 triple plate would hold more than a stage 2 single but duzn't affect the engagement right?

I bought the XTD stage I clutch and pressure plate off ebay, and it was more than adequate for my modded KA24DE. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for an inexpensive clutch replacement.

aight so this is what i heard from a friend. twin plate gets alot more grip then single but bites alot harder. and the stages are just the rating of torque. then how hard it is to push the pedal depends on your springs.
