Help! I have some serious tranny questions.
I have a tranny out of a 91 and I am going to put it in my 95 OBDI. What kind of ECU do I need?? I have a 91 manual ecu and the pins are totally different. Do I need a 95 manual ECU?
|
you can use an auto ecu just goto trick the ecu in thinking its in neutral
|
How would I be able to do that?
|
you dont trick the ECU... you just take the NSS plug in the engine bay and connect the two wires together....
BUT... you need a 95 tranny. the 91 tranny lacks the crank alignment sensor that the 95 tranny has. IF it runs, it will throw a CEL. sometimes theyll start without it, sometime they wont. |
I thought the crank angle sensor was only on the OBDII??
|
do you have an very very Early 95 240?????
|
Yes it is the early 95
|
yea your car is obdI
and you verify that by the amount of O2 sensors you have. you should only have 1 if its obdII. and in that case you should not have the crank sensor... you have to take into consideration the whole CA emissions 240 versions which were among the first to get obdII for its emissions upgrades.i have not worked with s14s much so i cant verify that.... |
OBDII has TWO O2 sensors, ODBI has only one.
|
OBD1 or 2 doesnt matter.
S14's have 2 O2 sensors. S14's have crank alignment sensors on the tranny BUT early S14's dont care if that 2nd O2 is there or not early S14's dont care if that CAS is there or not hope you like driving with a CEL lit up |
take the bulb out, Roffleiron

You can drill a hole and mount the CAS in a tranny not equipped with the CAS, just have to know where to drill.

I put a couple of washers in there, how close does the sensor need to be to the flywheel?
