KA24E tranny in KA24DE car?
Hi all,
I am new to this forum, so I apologize in advance if I'm asking a dumb question. I have a '93 convertible automatic with the KA24DE and I'm trying to swap in a 5spd. however, the tranny is from a KA24E single-cam engine. I read many swap faqs that didn't mention this being a problem, but I did notice that the clutch, pressure plate and slave cylinder have different part numbers depending on the engine. (http://www.courtesyparts.com/S13_clutch.html). anyone know if the KA24E parts will work? Thanks, Ben PS - I did a search in the drivetrain forums and found only one link that asked about this, but the link in the reply was dead. |
the short answer: yes
the parts are identicle |
actually, after a bit of research I found out that some parts ARE different.... the input shaft from a SOHC tranny has a different number of teeth on the spline. so if you have this setup, you need to buy the SOHC clutch even if you have a DOHC engine. in fact, I'd get the SOHC parts for everything from the flywheel back just to be safe.
hope this can save someone some time or $$. Ben |
