LSD, open diff.

Okay, i know LSD means Limited Slip Differential.
When you guys reffer to "open differential" does that mean posi-track?

What does the '89 Fastback have in it.

Could someone please write a break down of what years have which? I'm trying to understand the terminology instead of being left in the dust.

Thanks in advance. :)

I can somewhat help...Open diff is one wheel spinning....Closed diff is basically like positrack...like when ur one wheels starts to lose traction the other wheel begins to go, but only under acceleration i believe....I know the se version 240's with hicas came with them, also know as the vlsd(viscous) and many of the infiniti series cars also came with them...I think this is right, sorry i couldnt answer it all..someone else will clear it up better. p.s. theres lots of info if u search too.

LSD is a mechanism that shifts the power distrubution from a peg leg diff at low speeds to a posi trac diff at high speeds.

Peg Leg Diff is power driven to one of the two wheels on the axel. Power is shifted to the outside wheel as the vehicle turns and alternates between the two wheels depending on the texture of the road on straight aways.

Posi Traction is equal distribution of the power to both wheels, this increases speed on straight aways and introduces the tendency to oversteer on turns.
