MT Help

Im getting a steal on a 240sx, problem is the owner says he screwed up the tranny. he says "it cranks fine, but when you let up on the clutch it stalls" i know tranny work is expensive, and i could just buy a new one for <250, so is it possible to fix this by simply swapping trannys? Any help would be greatly appreciated, especially as ive never messed with a tranny

well thats a vague problem. care to be more specific in details?

what was the owner messing around with when he screwed it up?

Apparently he was sliding around in some mud in his front yard and i imagine it just cut out. I wouldnt think it would be an engine problem as it will idle just fine with the clutch depressed, but as soon as you let it up it stalls. This is all i know about the scenario, i havent tried cranking it myself as the differential is already disconnected from the tranny. i was just hopeing id be able to simply replace the tranny, sounds like the clutch is ok?

dunno, might just be hydraulics (master/slave cylinder, lines )

see if you can turn the drive shaft with your hand in neutral. car off of course

so he wenting mudding huh? sounds like a middle-america hill billy type thing
