new car w/busted diff.

Hello, I'm new to the forums here and to 240s. I should be getting one in the next few days if the deal goes through. Pretty cheap but it's got a busted rear differential. Owner left it in a parking lot to rot :nono: . I've never had to deal with one of these things before, only worked on FWD cars. I've got access to a parts car nearby so getting a differential wont be a problem. I couldn't find in the search so, is there any difference in the differentials between years, or automatic to manual? The car I'll be getting is 5 speed, the parts car is automatic. The car I'm getting is a 92 and by my limited 240 knowledge I think the parts car is a 90 or 91. Also how much does the diff weigh? (I'm going to be attempting this in the parking lot)
:werd:

I'm not sure I was looking for a answer to a very similar question myself and have not had any luck. S14 rear diff fit into a S13

Guess I'll be finding out then. And to the practicality of a parking lot replacement :D Anything I should know about removing the diffs on these cars? looks pretty straight forward to me.

OK, here is a website that is simply full of info. on the LSD swap. Good luck. http://www.ka24development.com/vlsd.html
This should answer both of your questions.

Update... 91 240sx Auto Differential is exactly the same as the 93s manual diff, no modification needed.
