Reinstalling transmission - need help!

I was replacing my clutch last weekend and getting the transmission out was a little tricky but I finally got it. Replaced the clutch and now I can't get the transmission back in.

Does anyone have any tips? The starter bubble in the front of the transmission case is hitting against the body as I try to raise the tranny and I can't quite get it high enough.

Do I need to loosen the exhaust so the back of the engine can be lowered? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

BTW, I've got a 1989 240SX.

you just have to keep moving it around to get the top of the tranny to clear the firewall, IT WILL GO IN, it just takes lots of jiggling..quite a few people have this problem...once you get the firewall part cleared and get the fork in your goin to have to rotate the tranny from side to side to get the splines to line up..

Just to let you know I dropped my exhaust when re installing my transmisson. It angled the ngine downward and made it a hell of a lot easier.

make sure you align the clutch correctly I tend to align it a tad higher. If not it will give you a huge headache.
