resting shifter

ok..
now everyone says its bad to rest your hand on the shifter..
welll.. i would like to know why.

It wears down the bushing quicker. Not a big deal, but if you want your shifter to feel solid for a longer time then it's a bad idea to put weight on the shifter.

how about playing wid the shifter, like you kno win neutral, or before you put it in first, I always tend to this, well also it's because most time I have to pop it in 2nd for 1st to eat in smoothly.

Also I think it messes with the synchros and then leads to the shifter poping out of gear when driving.
