Seqeuntial Shifter; worht it or not?

With my car almost sold and an engine coming in already, I have sufficient funds to meet what I want for this summer. But I saw on importfan.com that there was a sequential shifter, and was thinking about it. Of course it will make your shifting faster, it is unique, and it is def. a new technology, but is it worth? I know I could spend money else where to futher enhance, but just thinking how easy it would be to slip down to the gear you want and not f**k up the gear and how much faster it would be. But it is a lot of money, and I do have other stuff I want to work on

So what's your thoughts?

Only if you are a SERIOUS drag racrer or road racer is it worth it. If not....spend that money on something else

That sequential thing is a cool idea, but 1) it sticks up really high so you'll have this mountain of mechanics sticking up from your center console (if it fits inside the center console, which I HIGHLY doubt), and 2) from what I heard you still need to use the clutch, so it's not really any faster if your left foot sucks :D :p

...3) reminds me of the shifter on Initial D arcade, and now I just remembered how many newb drivers think they are Dori Master King because they can do it in a game LOL (I know, seperate topics, not referring to you dude)

the 'sequential' on importfan.com isnt really a sequential, just so's you know. it bolts onto the top of a normal 5 or 6 speed tranny just like a short shifter kit would. I think its about 1200 dollars.

a true sequential gearbox (hollinger, HKS, GREX, Quaife, etc.) will start at around 8,000 to 9,000 dollars. HKS has one for the 240 that is 10,000 I think.

with one of those gearboxes, you can get a clutch pedal-less system (like Ferrari F1) that will actuate the clutch when you pull the gear selector back or pull a paddle. that is usually another 1,000 dollars.

yeah it just makes the shifting "sequential" but the tranny is your normal tranny

I don't think its worth it, unless your serious about racing. I would spend that 10g's on somethings
