skyline awd?

can anyone explain to me exactly how a skyline awd system works? i know it uses a torque split, but i dont even know what that is...

ok maybe i should rephrase...how does the transmission of a skyline awd system spin the front axle? Its easy in an engine setup like a fwd (horizontal) but idk how i works setup vertically (like the skyline)

if the rear wheels break traction it gives power to the front wheels.

and the torque split is what controls that?

Idk about skylines, but i would imagine that they work like any 4wd. You have the transmission drive the driveshaft to a transfer case, which is like another tranny. The transfer case transfers power to both a front a rear driveshaft. Bam! 4wd... ive never looked under a skyline, but this is how i would imagine it would work.
