stage 3 friction plate with stock pressure plate?
 

ok so i was wondering what the cons would be to using a stage 2 or stage 3 friction plate an throwout bearing with stock pressure plate an flywheel etc...

dude upgrade the flywheel. that degrading you upgrade right there.

yea i was definently thinkin bout doin that as well, so u can pretty much consider that in my plans, but as of right now i jus wanna keep it towards the cheaper side an my clutch slips quite a bit so if i can get away with jus doin a friction plate an throwout bearing thatd be sweet

How much torque are you running at the crank? The type of clutch you buy depends on how much torque your engine puts out. For instance, if the engine puts out 150 ftlbs of torque, a stage 1 which I believe handles up to 200 ftlbs torque is more than enough.

Going to a stage 2 or 3 can actually cause more stress to your engine; the higher stage clutches usually run a stiffer spring to maximize the gripping force of the compound in the pressure plate.

And yes, you dont want to use the old stock pressure plate on a new clutch, find a plressure plate/clutch disk combo, its usually 100 bucks more and better than buying everything separately. You can pick up a stock flywheel at Autozone or somewhere for decent price. They sometimes include a throw out bearing in the clutch/pressure plate combos too.

the flywheel i may jus get resurfaced or sumthin like that its a completely stock motor an i wanna swap it out within the next year neway so i dont wanna throw to much money at it

How many miles do you have on the motor? Or more specifically, if its the original flywheel, how many miles are on that one?

Usually the resurfacing is the better option, but depending on mileage IMO... But keep in mind all of our cars are money pits LOL

huuuuge money pits haha they are basically a deep dark abyss were u jus toss ur rent/groceries money, annn yet for sum reason we luv doin it..hmm

the car has 109k on it i jus bought it a couple weeks ago so im not sure but id say the flywheel is original, i havnt gotten in there yet

chances are im jus gonna resurface it an do a stage one clutch kit when i get some money

No prob, but yeah, it should still be the same flywheel and with low mileage like that, resurface should be cool.
