Strength of stock KA manual tansmission

I was wondering if the stock manual tranny from a 240sx is strong enough to hold high HP (ie maybe 350hp). I heard that those things are pretty tough. I was looking for performance trannys but the aftermarket doesnt seem to be very kind to 240's. Up to how many hp will the stock rear end handle and do they have those in aftermarket? Also, how much HP do you think I could get out of a 92 240 with turbo/ modified internals and still run on pump gas and pass smog (i live in CA, strict ass emmission standards). I want thing to be streetable too. THANKS!

well the tranny will hold fine to answer that question, as for the power/smog it all depends how deep your pockets are, just like anything else.
