tranny build-up
Not trying to jack your thread but what kind of special tools do you need to rebuild the manual transmission...special as in you'll probably only use once and over 50 bucks.
I've been searching all over this forum and others and haven't been able to come up with much as far as upgrades go besides the clutch. This appears to be true even for the few making 400 - 500 hp. So if there are upgrades I'd like to know also before I rebuild my transmission but it looks to me to be pointless, everyone says it's already really strong. The higher final gear could be fun.

there is HOPE!
To answer shift-drift and 240esex's question what I have heard of is there is a one in a series of synchro rings i believe [don't quote me on this] is made of brass material (Brass has a very low melting point), an achilles heel if you will, in the Tranny, all others are steel?
Now you can have all synchros rings fabricated to be of some other forged/metal material and cryogenic treatment can be done? Price range could be in few hundreds to thousands I'm not sure? By the time ur putting out 400-500+ on KA power engine, who knows maybe your axles will wear out?
And for those hard core Automatic guys
torque convertors & valve bodies will do--with that in mind, no 5 or 6 speed on earth will beat you if you ur boostin'

lol kazilla... im going to be sending my spare trans out to have it built... it is an auto... but finding a manual valve body and a higher stall converter is the problem... so far i have not found anyone who makes them for the nissan transmissions... still the quest continues...
wikd240 I just remember of some place in NY
http://www.maximumtuning.net they rebuild A32, A33 and U13
transmissions with stalls, TC's & VB....but hey they may or may
not work with S13, S14 trannies. Give them a call, but if they can't
do it, they might know someone who does....

My 240sx has 450whp and already have destroy 6 trasmission, 1 drive shft, and 2 axle. My 1st upgrade was a set of 4340 chromemoly axles from LS Auto and a custom aluminum drive shaf. Next step will be a OS GIKEN Reinforced Main Shaft For SR20DET. Let see if this option last. It work on KA24 transmission too.
The site is http://www.lsauto.com/osgiken.asp if someone need more info.
