Dude you're in TEXAS?!?! The drift scene out there is HUGE as is the tuner market. I have a few friends out there and a TON of drifting buddies. You should just get with the local drift scene and see if:

1. Any of them can get you hooked up or have a spare welded diff.

2. Any local shops can clean that up and/or get you setup with another diff, because that one is going to (as Scott already said) cause you issues.

I'm in the panhandle of texas, I think the drift scene is all south of me and its closer to drive to oklahoma or new mexico and than it is to south central texas, well from where im located. I think in this whole city, there are about 5 modded 240's not much of anykind of scene around here. Thanks for everyone's input. I think I'll try another one or just buy a LSD.

that's when you know the welds should hold, the term is penetration. the welds in the first pics appear to be just superficial and are likely to flake off under minimal stress.

David....... most guys can't afford a LSD... I know I couldn't around the time I welded mine. To me it's the first step to getting out there and doing it.

How many times have you heard "I don't have the right equipment" Ill also tell you a FULL 2way gives the same hopping, popping and scrubbing noise during daily driving. Yes the decel from lift off is dramatically better etc but.. they are not that far apart lol.

I actually agree here. . .

A VLSD, when properly maintained and upkept (which really isn't that much work) is a LOT of fun and will work just as well as a friction-based limited slip.

+1, those welding beads can cause some damage, and no that weld doesn't work very strong, I through in a couple bolts when I weld a diff. Grab yourself another open diff (you can get one for like $50 used) and try it again with a more professional job.

The welds I had done were on a welder that ran on 480Volts. The thing was as big as my car. I am not afraid of them breaking. The axles or u-joints will give out before the welds will.
