89-90 Cluster Swap Q

OK I've pretty much read every post related to this on the forums so far.

Because I have an 89' s13 I have to change my cluster.

1. Do I also have to change the wiring harness aswell?

2. If I don't change the cluster, will be car at least start and be driveable?

3. What exactly on the cluster will not work if not changed?

Thanks. Help is appreciated

If your talking about swapping in an SR20, its the SOHC tach that will not work. You can swap in the DOHC cluster or just the DOHC tach. The car will still start and run fine.

lol damn...u sure u wana do a swap??

tach= tachometer (measures Revolutions Per Minute (RPM's)) (not speedometer(measures speed))

hah ooo ya.... that engines fricking going in whether it wants too or not in 10 days. I didn't buy all of this crap for nothing lol

can anyone clarify this for me please? I heard that the driveshaft needs to be shortened on the 89-90 to fit my s14 sr20det. True?

expect a lot of stupid questions from me over the next couple weeks. its a matter of life or death for my car
