Aftermarket Auto Trans Controller?

I plan to run an S14 with an auto trans but due to availability I'm only able to buy an S14 clip with a 5spd and a separate auto trans and hope to make them work together.

I need to know how the auto versions of the S14 differ from the manuals, specifically how is the auto controlled. Is there a controller for the trans separate from the engine ECU, or does the engine ECU control both the engine and the trans.

I feel as though I'd have better luck finding an aftermarket auto trans controller rather than an OEM one. Does anyone know where to find one.

I also need an aftermarket ECU; one that can control the EGR too.

Any other info regarding the manual vs auto S14s would be much appreciated.

yeah

true, but the engine is going in a Hybrid Ford Explorer being built by students at Cornell University. And an auto will be better for us.
