CA18DET good for me?

I've been checking out the CA18DET and its looking mighty nice, it weighs less than my ka engine, turboed, cheaper than sr swap and less common, not to mention i can get one for $900 with engine, and tranny. I am not planning on big numbers for horsepower, i just want a little more than the ka. 250 tops. I have read 200 can be achieved with not too much work. Does anyone know the weight of the ca vs sr vs ka?

I've looked around and cannot find engine weight of the ca, i'm assuming its even less than the sr, due to its lower displacement.
Ju excited about some new ideas i have and i have the money to do, wanted to tell someone =D

CA18 is good for EVERYONE. It has been referred to as the 'mini RB"

I also have herd that the ca18det is a killer engine! I had a link some were on my comp, It had results from a dyno day and this guys ca beat most the sr's with very little mods. I will try to find it and post it.

P.S not sayin that sr's suck cuz they don't! they were probly mostly stock;)

i had a buddy in japan that had a 300+ hp ca. lots of people see a ca and thing garbage but imo well worth the money.

CA is smaller, but is an iron block. So it may be the same weight or just a little less.

My friend just got done building his CA18DET except he had it bored out to a little over 2.0 L with custom pistons. He just got it running today and is still breaking in the motor. He took me for a ride and man does it feel strong. Cant imagine what its like under full boost

I running my ca and its strong. Now i never drove a sr20 so i wouldn't be able to tell u the difference, but i know once i get it to the dyno in a couple weeks i'll be posting the scores.

If u go to www.norrisdesigns.com they r a tuning company in europe. U can get a basic idea of what u need to reach a certain HP by lookin at their packages. BTW i use one of their chips and its good.

Not to mention there are stroker kits for the CA to beefen out the torque.

There's a CA here that runs with everyones SR's no problem. Seems you can crank the timing quite a bit before detonation. The iron block is the key, but if you get one pull the pan and locktite/retorque the rod bolts, they aren't torqued tight enough from the factory and we've seen some come loose.

Would you know the torque for the CA18 rod bolts by chance?
