drop in? or drop onto?

Do most of you that have done swaps put the motor into the car through the hood? or lower the car onto the motor?

Doba's240 Oct 29, 2003 04:15 AM

yeah i put my sr20 into the chassis with transmition and downpipe
little problems

I dropped the RB25DET in through the top, if I did it again, I would go from the bottom with the trans already bolted up. Much easier. RB is a ***** from the top.

Tilt the back down and the front up. Rock it a little so the clutch gets past the lip on the firewall, and let that part get down past it. Then push it back as far as you can to clear the crank pulley from the core support. Thats how I did mine both times and thats how I did the other swap I did.

Hyjynx, you and I talked about this before and I told you it would be easier to assemble the trans & motor and THEN install it into the car from the bottom. I have another swap coming up, RB25DET into an S14 and I will try it that way and tell you how it goes.

I didn't really have any trouble lowering it into the car, just gotta make sure you are as close to the firewall as possible.
