Emissions issues

Hi, I live in Pennsylvania. We recently got emissions requirements here, so any post '95 240 must have an OBDII engine. As we all know, the sr20 is OBDI so a 96+ car with < 96 model year sr20 will fail emissions.

Does anyone know how it works with an S13 with a swap? Since the car is OBDI (and so is the engine), is there any possibility of failing emissions? I dont want to pay for a swap and then not be able to drive it

Thanks,
jason

depends on how strict the emissions is in your state. If it's similar to CA, no matter what you do you won't pass smog with an SR.

SR20 is NOT OBD1 since Japan had their own version of OBD....I dont believe it has the same language as American cars.

You gotta figure out how they test OBD1 cars in PA & see if it will work for you.

PA testing just for refrence is modeled off CA's testing. It's almost the same emissions test. I've heard of a SR20's that passed through emissions test without failing however. I also know that it's actually fairly easy to get stickers. Be careful what your getting into. If your lucky somehow your pass emissions then you can get your sticker. If not.... it all boils down to how well you know your mechanic.

if they have a visual test similar to CA, then it won't matter if the numbers pass smog, you'll fail visual.
