Installing a sr20det yourself

Ok, before i make a decision on getting a 240 sx. I want to know how hard is it to install everything. If i get everything with the engine, nothing missing.

1- How hard is it?

2- From what i read , wiring is the the hardest part, is that true?

3- What kind of tools do I need.

4- With the right tools and the whole package how long would it take and can some one give me a step by step mannual or something.

Much thanks SAM

1. If you have to ask it'll be hard.

2. Yes.

3. A lot. If you want to know specifics, basically the tools the FSM lists you need to take the KA out will be used to put the SR in.

4. Experienced mechanics can do swaps in 4 hours, unexperienced people can take a week or more. There's really no step by step instructions but with a FSM and the info on say www.heavythrottle.com should be enough.

If for say SAM gets the SR20 in the car, is there tuning that needs to be done, and what is the possiblity that 2 high school kids who know a lot about this, and are learning more, but never did anything like this, will get this done?

BTW Sam lives around here and goes to the same school as me and were gonna be doing this together.

nothin is impossable if you do the math before hand.
be sure you have everything you need first.
get an extra KA wiring harness and send it to be converted(asap)
cop the Install Kit
if you are fimallar with this type of process(alot of us were honda guys and have done swaps) then you are OK.
download an english version of the SR20/S13/14 FSM and have fun.
the end result is worth the effort you'll put into this project.
be sure to read up on the diffrences between the SOHC/DOHC cars and you'll be floatin in no time
